Call-to-action: Save Hayes Promenade

tl;dr: Hayes Promenade is up for permit renewal. If you want to see it continue, click here to email a letter of support, and attend the hearing online October 23, 2025, 9am at sfmta.com/calendar/iscott-meeting-1603.

For over five years, Hayes Promenade has been a cherished community space in the heart of Hayes Valley. Children play safely, neighbors and visitors gather, dance, and shop, artists and musicians perform. It's been a model for what city streets can be: safe, vibrant, and people-centered. It supports local businesses by bringing steady foot traffic and outdoor dining. It strengthens community bonds through cultural programming and neighborhood collaboration. And it reimagines urban space as something that belongs to everyone.

This year has been our most active ever, click here to see some highlights from the past year.

On October 23rd, the city will hold a hearing to gather community input on whether Hayes Promenade should continue. The future of Hayes Promenade depends on strong community support at this upcoming hearing. Click here to send an email letter of support.

If you’re up for it, it’s far more powerful to provide comment live at the virtual hearing:

Join us in telling city leaders that Hayes Street belongs to everyone. Together, we can ensure this community space continues to thrive for years to come.

Streets are for people!
